Kurdish Security Forces Get Targeted in Erbil Airport Strikes
Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw informed a news outlet that Walatt Taher, 32, who served with the Kurdish security forces (Asayish) at the airport, was killed during the overnight assaults. Another security personnel was also injured in the incidents.
Residents in northern Iraq's Erbil heard intense explosions late Saturday, according to a correspondent.
Since Feb. 28, Iran has been launching missiles and drones toward Israel and Gulf nations hosting US military assets. Several of these attacks have resulted in casualties and inflicted damage on civilian infrastructure, including ports and residential buildings.
Tehran stated that the strikes are retaliatory measures against a US-Israeli military campaign targeting Iran, which it claims has resulted in hundreds of deaths, including that of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and high-ranking military officials.
