WASHINGTON – Today, Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent met with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein. Secretary Bessent discussed the United States’ expectations for Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi’s reforms. The Secretary and Foreign Minister had a frank discussion on a range of issues including Shiite pilgrimages to Najaf, U.S. efforts to stop the Iranian regime’s campaign of terror through Operation Economic Outcast, and Iraq’s progress in demilitarizing Iranian militias.
