Bahrain Imposes Travel Ban on Iraq, Iran Over Security Situation
According to reports, the ministry said the decision was taken due to what it described as a “tense security situation” linked to regional developments and broader instability.
"Due to the continued tense security situation resulting from the repercussions of the sinful Iranian aggression, and in order to safeguard national security and the safety of all citizens, the Ministry of Interior announces the decision to ban citizens from traveling" to Iraq and Iran, the ministry said in a statement cited by a state news agency.
The restriction will remain in effect until further notice, and authorities warned that legal measures could be taken against those who violate the ban.
As stated by reports, the decision comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East following military strikes on Iran by the United States and Israel on February 28. Iran later responded with attacks targeting Israeli positions and US-aligned interests in the Gulf region, as well as actions affecting key maritime routes including the Strait of Hormuz.
Officials in Bahrain said the travel ban is intended to protect citizens and maintain national security in light of ongoing regional instability.
